Undas Online for Overseas Filipinos

As I was trying to keep my time occupied while on my 9 hour flight on board Gulf Air Flight GF-155, I asked the flight steward a newspaper to read rather than to scroll movies on the screen.  The Philippines Star newspaper was given, then, under the headline, Undas online for overseas Filipinos

As the Whole islands of the Philippines observed the All Saint’s Day and the all Soul’s Day, overseas Filipinos had no time to get involved in the said observance.   Overseas Filipinos include seafarers are those who don’t have the chance to visit the graveyard of their departed loved ones.

In connection with this, the Catholic Bishop Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) launched just yesterday a website for undas celebration. This website is intended for overseas Filipinos to send request for prayers and mass for their loved ones.

Overseas Filipinos may visit http://www.undasonline.com/ by listing the names of their dead and send it online. For the intention of the dead, masses will be said on Nov. 1 to 8 at the CBCP chapel.

The website also provides facts on the observance of the All Soul’s Day and All Saint’s Day. Non-Catholics can also raise question and send it online.

This website is a good tool for overseas Filipinos who wish that prayers and masses will be said for their dead loved ones.

Promoting once again the fascinating beauty of my beloved country the Philippines, being an overseas Filipino worker,I feel like I'm compelled to do so. If we could only bring one guest to visit Philippines, you'll discover the chain effect later. They'll bring one more and keep coming back to savor the majestic beauty on the Philippine islands.

If you already know, Apl.de.ap (of the Black Eyed Peas) has been creating videos  promoting Philippine Tourism and there are more celebrity doing this as well.

As an ordinary citizen, let us start to do the same. Promote the beauty of the Philippines in our own little way. We will see the results one day. Jobs will be created, revenues for hotel accommodation and food. And a lot more than you could imagine.

Today, the Department of Tourism is promoting programs akin to nature. There is Eco-tourism projects being promoted all over the Philippine  archipelago. Try to consider nature trekking, scuba diving, whitewater rafting, island hopping and a lot more. You will definitely discover the diverse nature of the 7,107 islands.

There is also Medical tourism program that includes health and wellness spa, Philippines has been a popular travel destination for this purpose alone. Philippine hospitals compete with other Asian rivals for foreign medical services. It is not only of high technology that were considered but of quality service and professional skills that Filipinos were mostly known of.

Retirement option has been an good choice to most old aged foreigners. Retirement homes are now on good development in selected parts of the country. The tender loving care and outstanding hospitality of the Filipinos were unequaled to any other Asian population.

The Philippines of 7,107 islands is an open secret waiting to be discovered. Discover Philippines in its adventure, culture and extraordinary nature. Truly, every time you hop in each of the  island you'll be mesmerized of the beauty of the Philippines.

OFW Ako!: Official Nominee for Pinoy Expat/ OFW Blog Awards

I am so much overwhelmed today. There are no ordinary words to best describe my happiness when Mr. Kiko wrote a comment on my blog. He informed me about my blog being featured in Pinoy Expat/OFW Blog awards Facebook account. Truly, no other beautiful worlds greeted me this morning when I finally see the  picture of my blog as an official nominee for the OFW Advocay blog category.

I have been blogging for more than 4 years now. Just by this year, I've got  this wonderful recognition as an official nominee for PEBA: OFW Advocay blog category.

Being an OFW myself, this is my simple piece of contribution to the overseas Filipino worker. I never get tired blogging for this is my passion now. I felt that I am obliged to give some information in my way I think would be very helpful for OFWs' growth and survival

I could share the sentiments of how hard it is being away from our families, making those sacrifices from foreign land, giving up all our personal wants and desire, thinking nothing more but the best for our families left back home.

About PEBA:

Pinoy Expats/OFW Blog Awards Inc., is a non-profit non- stock organization of international Filipino bloggers worldwide. PEBA serves as an award giving body that recognizes and honor Expats/OFW bloggers whose work of art has of outstanding contribution to Filipinos worldwide.

OFW Friendly Banks according to Bangko Sental ng Pilipinas (BSP)

OFWs’ hard earned money is as precious as his blood. Keeping that money safe for future use needs reliable banks with outstanding financial background. So to answer this needs, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas(BSP) created a Portal for OFWs’. This portal listed recommended banks that have affiliates in your host countries.

It is best to consider OFW friendly banks that offer not only interests in your deposited money but probable investment that might yield higher earnings.

Also, check OFW friendly banks that have interactive system, wherever you maybe in this part of the world, from time to time you could see your financial portfolio online.

There were banks in the Philippines that have been closed due to bankruptcy. Some of their clients until now were struggling to get their money bank. Though deposits were insured by PDIC but the rigorous processing frustrate depositors.

In order to avoid any possible problems with your deposited hard earned money. I should recommend to further check the BSP OFW Portal and run through all recommended banks.

Review your chosen Bank that suits to your liking and evaluate further the products, services, and the entire financial background; it is not a guarantee that the bigger the bank is the more financially it sounds.

If I were to be asked, personally I recommend Bank of the Philippine Island (BPI), as a client, I am absolutely satisfied with their services. If it’s difficult for you to visit the nearest bank, right into your personal computer, your online portfolio is just a few clicks away.

Philippine National Bank (PNB) and Land Bank of the Philippines are my other option. These banks are not only financially sound, but they proved their commitment to the overseas Filipino workers.
